Prof. Gao Wei

Professor, Department of Finemechanics, School of Engineering, Tohoku University

Wei Gao received his Bachelor from Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 1986, followed by MSc and Ph. D from Tohoku University in 1991 and 1994, respectively. He is currently a professor in Department of Finemechanics, Tohoku University. His research interests lie primarily in precision nanometrology. He served as a vice president of JPSE in 2015 and the chairman of STC-P of CIRP in 2015-2018. He is an author of the books “Precision Nanometrology” (Springer), “Surface Metrology for Micro- and Nanofabrication” (Elsevier), “Optical Metrology for Precision Engineering” (De Gruyter). He was awarded the Prize for Science and Technology from the Japanese Government (MEXT) in 2019. He is a Fellow of CIRP, ISNM, JSPE, JSME and a Fellow of The Engineering Academy of Japan (EAJ).

Prof. Dikai Liu

Distinguished Professor, University of Technology Sydney, Australia

Dikai Liu is a distinguished professor at the Robotics Institute of the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) and an IEEE RAS Distinguished Lecturer. He is Director of the ARC Research Hub for Human-Robot Teaming for Sustainable and Resilient Construction. His research interest lies in field robotics and human-robot collaboration. In addition to conducting fundamental robotics research, he has been instrumental in transforming robotics research into industry applications. Examples include autonomous robots for bridge maintenance, bio-inspired climbing robots for inspection of confined space, and intelligent robotic co-worker for human-robot collaborative abrasive blasting. Since 2006, his research has received over 20 Best Paper and Research/Engineering Excellence awards, including the 2024 IEEE IROS Harashima Award, the 2019 UTS Medal for Research Impact, the 2019 ASME DED Leonardo da Vinci Award, the 2019 BHERT Award for Outstanding Collaboration in Research & Development, and the 2016 Australian Engineering Excellence Awards (AEEA). His research has been featured by reputable newspapers and TV news channels, such as the BBC, ABC, Sydney Morning Herald, and The Robot Report.

Prof. Shuming Yang

Professor, Xi’an Jiaotong University, China

Prof. Dr. Shuming Yang is from Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU), China. His main research interests include nanofabrication and measurement, optical measurement and instrumentation, ultra-precision manufacturing and measurement etc. He has held more than 20 research projects including National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, National Key R&D Program of China, National Science and Technology Major Projects etc. He has published nearly 300 papers and 3 books, owned over 100 patents of PCT, UK, European and China, achieved more than 10 technical awards. He was elected as a fellow of the International Society for Nanomanufacturing (ISNM), and a Board Member of Asian Society for Precision Engineering and Nanotechnology (ASPEN) etc. He is also an editor or a guest editor of JMS, IJPEM-GT, IJRAT, FME, NMME, IJEM, MST, PE, IJAMT, Photonics etc. He delivered keynote and invited talks in academic conferences over 100 times.

Prof. James Kit Hon Tsoi

Associate Professor, The University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong

Professor James Tsoi is Assistant Dean (Innovation), Associate Professor in Dental Materials Science, and Clinical AI Research Theme Lead at HKU Faculty of Dentistry. He received BSc in Applied and Analytical Chemistry and PhD in Dental Materials Science, from the University of Hong Kong. He also holds the Memberships of Royal Society of Chemistry (MRSC) and British Computer Society (MBCS), and Fellow in Advanced HE (FHEA). James is actively engaged in a number of research areas including: Dental materials science (mechanical behaviours, surface/bonding and ceramics), smart manufacturing (CAD/CAM and 3D printing), digital dentistry (AI and data science) and dental education (basic science and e-learning). He has authored more than 150 peer-reviewed journal articles, published and granted 10 patents, graduated 44 MSc and 12 PhDs, and been awarded 8 times in international conferences since he joined HKU Dentistry as a faculty member in 2012. He is currently serving several SCI journals’ editorial board (including Dental Materials), being President in IADR-Dental Materials Group, Member-at-large in the Academy of Dental Materials, and Hong Kong head-of-delegate in ISO/TC 106 (Dentistry).

Prof. Takashi Matsumura

Professor, Tokyo Denki University

Professor Matsumura graduated from the Graduate School of Mechanical Engineering Science in Tokyo Institute of Technology in 1987. Then, he worked as a Research Associate from 1987 to 1992 and received a PhD. in 1992. He has been working as a Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Tokyo Denki University since 1992. He became the Director of Research Collaboration in 2006 and Director of Tokyo Denki University in 2015. He was also a visiting scholar at Massachusetts Institute of Technology from 1997 to 2006; and a visiting professor, Mondoragon University in 2011.
He served as Director, Japan Society for Abrasive Technology; Associate Editor, Precision Engineering; Chairman, Research Committee of Cutting Technology, Japan Society for Precision Engineering; Chairman, Manufacturing and machine tool division and Chairman, Research Committee RC295 in Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers. He is now serving as Vice President, Japan Society for Precision Engineering; Chairman, Manufacturing Engineering division, Japan Society of Automobile Engineers; Director, The Japan Society for Die and Mould Technology; Associate Editor, Journal of Micro Nano Manufacturing, ASME. He has been studying machining process modeling, micro/nano machining, tribology, surface engineering and intelligent manufacturing technology. He has published more than 200 papers and received 27 awards.
